Seattle Slew is a famous thoroughbr ed horse of US origin and is known for his astounding performanc e in the US Triple Crown in 1977. He is the tenth of total eleven horses to accomplish the feat and ranks ninth in the Blood-Hors e magazine out of the Top 100 Racehorses of the 20th Century. He is the descendant of the sire Nearco through his son, Nasrullah he was sired by Bold Reasoning out of My Charmer. Since the start of his career on September 20, 1976 in the fifth race at Belmont Park, he earned victory in many of the races with a long distance. He was named the champion 2-year-old of 1976. After posting win in the US Triple Crown in 1977, Seattle Slew was stabled at Hialeah, where he stopped eating and broke into sweats. It seemed that he would die ultimately he recovered slowly and finally made it back to the races at Aqueduct. He clinched victory that Allowance race at Aqueduct easily by eight and half-lengt hs and also in the next race at Saratoga. His last race was an easy victory in the Stuyvesant Handicap in November at Aqueduct Racetrack. At the time of his retirement , Seattle Slew stood at stud at the Three Chimneys Farm in Midway, Kentucky. He was the leading sire of 1984 when his son Swale won the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. He is also the only Belmont Stake winner to sire a Belmont Stakes winner A.P. Indy. Seattle Slew is buried at Hill n Dale Farms near Lexington, Kentucky.
