Withers Stakes is an American horse racing event raced at a distance of one mile on Aqueduct racetrack. This grade III horse racing event is open to three year olds and offers a purse of 150,000. Withers Stakes commenced in 1874 at Jerome Park Racetrack. Later on, horseracing occured in Morris Park Racecourse, Jamaica Racetrack and Belmont Park. Today, the race occurs at Aqueduct Racetrack . Withers Stakes is named in honor of David Durham Withers, a famous breeder who posted win in the race in 1890. In 2008 Eibar Coa galloped Harlem Rocker to win the race in style. br br
