Cracker Factory taken to scale new heights in Summit

Cracker Factory looks value to gain revenge on Quel Destin and land the 2m Grade 2 Summit Juvenile Hurdle at Doncaster on Saturday (14:45). This three-year-old hails from the yard of Alan king, who saddled Who Dares Wins to land the spoils in this in 2015.

The son of Poet’s Voice has a progressive profile since being sent hurdling, winning four of his six starts. In the last of those successes, the Simon Munir and Isaac Souede owned gelding landed the Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle at Wetherby’s Charlie Hall meeting in good style.

After hitting the third, Cracker Factory was produced to take up the running three from home travelling strongly by jockey Daryl Jacob. He then drew readily clear before the last to win easily by seven lengths from Chief Justice.

It was a most taking display and the runner-up has since landed a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse to give the form a solid look. Cracker Factory has had just one run since and lost little in defeat when finding only Quel Destin 1 1/4 lengths too good in a six-runner Grade 2 contest at Cheltenham.

Form of Triumph Trial may be reversed

Cracker Factory led narrowly three from home, but then lost valuable momentum when making a mistake at the second last. It was to his credit that he rallied to hold every chance on the stiff uphill finish until being unable to find any extra close home.

But for the error two out, things may well have turned out differently and the return to a flatter more galloping track looks sure to suit Cracker Factory. His owners have also seen their colours carried to victory in two of the last four renewals of this courtesy of Peace and Co (2014) and We Have A Dream 12 months ago.

So, at the odds on offer, Cracker Factory looks worth a bet to follow in that pair’s hoofprints and resume winning ways. Hence he features as the main selection in our 2018 Summit Juvenile Hurdle betting tips.

Quel Destin the obvious danger

Given that the aforementioned Quel Destin meets Cracker Factory ion the same terms as when beating him at Cheltenham, he is entitled to confirm the form. The Paul Nicholls trained gelding has a progressive profile and won two of his three starts over the obstacles.

In the first of those he was beaten just 1 1/2 lengths by the well-regarded Montestrel in the Champion Hats Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow on British debut in October. It was a very promising run, and Quel Destin duly went one better next time up at Kempton when cruising to a facile 12 lengths success over Ghost Serge.

The son of Muhtathir then showed a game attitude when scoring at Prestbury Park, finding plenty for pressure to assert late on and beat Cracker Factory. There was nothing not to like about the way in which he got the job done and the pair pulled 2 1/2 lengths clear of the highly-touted Never Adapt.

However, Quel Destin’s cause was helped by Cracker Factory making a mistake at a crucial stage and the venue clearly paid to his strengths. Whether he will be as effective as the runner-up at this less testing venue stamina wise is debatable. For that reason alone, we think he is worth taking on at cramped odds on offer at the time of writing.

Oi The Clubb Oi’s capable of outrunning odds

The race looks a match on all known form between Cracker Factory and Quel Destin. However, should one of them fail to fire then Oi The Clubb Oi’s could sneak into the frame at a big price. This Ian Williams trained grey gelding was a winner on the flat who ha shaped with plenty of promise in two runs in this sphere.

In the last of those, Oi The Clubb Oi’s went down fighting by just a head to expensive French recruit Style De Vole at Newcastle. The winner went into the race with a huge reputation and was sent off the 2/5 favourite, so it was a fine effort to get so close off level weights.

The pair also pulled nicely clear of the third home and it was a performance which suggested Oi The Clubb Oi’s was a winner in waiting. This is a big step up in class, but the son of Champs Elysees is clearly improving with each outing and receives a handy 5lb from the big two in the betting here.

So, at the odds on offer, Oi The Clubb Oi’s features as the each-way punt and completes our 2018 Summit Juvenile Hurdle betting tips. With only five going to post, bookmakers are paying just two places and a quarter of the odds.
