Cheltenham betting tips: Anteros and Danse Idol feature among Saturday punts

Horsebetting.com experts give their Cheltenham betting tips for November 17 and day two of the November Meeting. The Worlds End looks a cut above the opposition in the 3m mallardjewellers.com Novices Chase, so rates the standout bet on the card. Danse Idol has joined the in-form Paul Nicholls yard and strong form in the book, so is our next best bet in the Listed bumper. Anteros, meanwhile, has become well-treated and runs the track well, so makes plenty of each-way appeal in the Listed 3m handicap hurdle. Exciting prospect The Worlds End impossible to oppose

The Worlds End could not have been more impressive when making a winning debut over the larger obstacles and looks a worthy red-hot favourite to follow-up in the 3m mallardjewellers.com Novices’ Chase on BetVictor Gold Cup day at Cheltenham this Saturday (13:15). This Tom George trained seven-year-old was a very useful staying hurdler who has the potential to go to the top in this sphere.

He won four times over hurdles, including when beating Beyond Conceit by half-a-length in a Grade 1 juvenile contest at Aintree. Although he didn’t get his head in front in five starts last season, the son of Stowaway did post some solid efforts in defeat at the highest level.

They included when fourth to Sam Spinner in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot and a fine 7 1/2 lengths seventh of 15 to Penhill in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival here back in March. However, connections always claimed that whatever he achieved over hurdles would be a bonus, as he was bred to come into his own as a chaser.

That view was confirmed in no uncertain fashion when The Worlds End easily beat Now McGinty by 14 lengths in a five-runner beginners’ chase at Chepstow last month. He put in a flawless round of jumping and, after taking up the running five from home, cruised clear to win with any amount in hand. It was a most taking display and one which suggested The Worlds End needed keeping firmly onside.

This also earned him an official rating of 155, which gives him 10lb and upwards in hand on all his rivals. It makes this look the taking for The Worlds End granted a clear round, so he’s fully expected to prove up to the task and land the spoils en route to much better things. We therefore had no hesitation in making him the standout punt in our Cheltenham betting tips for November 17.

Danse Idol the answer to Listed bumper

Trainer Paul Nicholls has his team in fine fettle and Danse Idol looks to hold leading claims of providing him with another winner in the Listed 2m mares’ bumper (16:00). This five-year-old is making her debut for the Ditcheat handler, having won an Irish point and finished a fine second on her only previous start under rules.

That run came in a 16-runner bumper at Punchestown back in February where the daughter of Dansant finished second of 16 to Relegate. After racing in mid-division, she made headway approaching the straight and stuck to the task well to go down by just 1 3/4 lengths.

It was a very pleasing introduction and the winner went on to land a Grade 2 at Leopardstown, before tasting her finest hour when flying home to land the 23-runner Grade 1 Champion Bumper at the Festival here in March. So, even given the fact the Danse Idol was in receipt of 7lb, it was a cracking effort for her to get so close to a hugely talented Willie Mullins inmate. The form looks really strong and sets the standard in this.

Danse Idol is a scopey sort with bags of potential and looks just the type to win plenty of races for Nicholls. With the yard operating at a 22 per cent strike rate in the last 14 days at the time of writing, she is also unlikely to be found wanting for lack of fitness. Her run behind Relegate makes her the one to beat in this, hence Dansse Idol rates out next best bet on a terrific seven-race card on day two of the November Meeting at Prestbury Park.

Anteros an appealing each-way play

Anteros runs the track well and figures on a handy mark at present, so makes plenty of each-way appeal in the Listed 3m Regulatory Finance Solutions Handicap Hurdle (15:00). The Sophie Leech trained 10-year-old has won once and been placed four times in 12 runs at the venue.

That success came in this two years ago where, after being held-up, the son of Milan forged clear on the run-in to comfortably beat Corrin Wood by seven lengths off a rating of 125. Anteros also ran very well in last year’s renewal when a 2 3/4 lengths runner-up to Thomas Campbell off 128 and is now able to race off just 1lb higher.

It gives him every chance from a handicapping perspective and he comes into the race on the back of two promising runs at Plumpton and Newton Abbot. Connections gave him two spins before his aforementioned runs in this in 2016-17, so he has clearly been primed for it yet again.

Anteros also has the services of Sean Houlihan in the saddle who takes off a handy 5lb with his claim. Taking it into account, Anteros is running off a mark 1lb lower than when last successful. It makes him a huge player in this at a track which clearly plays to his strengths, so at the odds on offer he had to be the each-way punt in our Cheltenham betting tips for November 17.
