Plumatic posted a career-best effort last time out, so rates the NAP on the eight-race card in the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein run over 1m now eased in grade. Noor El Hawa looks the one to be on in the Group 2 Prix Dollar and rates the next best bet. Morgan Le Faye, meanwhile, rates a solid each-way punt in the feature stayers’ contest over 2m 4f, the Group 1 Prix du Cadran. Class-dropping Plumatic the Daniel Wildentstein wager

Plumatic posted a career-best effort last time out, so now eased in grade is strongly fancied to land the spoils in the 1m Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein at Longchamp on Saturday (16:05). This Andre Fabre trained colt has a progressive profile and has won three of his nine starts.

In the last of those at Salisbury, the son of Dubawi landed the Group 2 Sovereign Stakes in good style. After tracking the leader travelling strongly, Plumatic was shaken up to take up the running at furlong marker by regular pilot Maxime Guyon; he then showed a smart turn of foot before readily holding off Oh This Is Us to score by a length.

Plumatic was value for more than the winning margin, as he never had to be asked a serious question. Given that he meets the runner-up on the same terms in this, there is no reason why he will not come out on top again. The four-year-old has had just one run since and it was cracker when pitched into Group 1 company as he finished fourth of 11 to Recoletos in the Prix du Moulin over this course and distance.

After quickening to take up the lead at the furlong marker, Plumatic only faded in the last 110 yards to be beaten 1 1/2 lengths. The runner-up is a very smart sort who had previously run well when a 2 1/2 lengths runner-up to Jessica Harrington’s wonder filly Alpha Centauri in the Group 1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville.

Plumatic also had some useful types in-behind in the shape of Expert Eye (third) and Group 1 winners Lightning Spear and Without Parole, who finished fifth and sixth respectively. It gives the form a really solid look in relation to this lower grade contest and sets a clear standard for others to aim at.

So, with the prospect of even more improvement to come from the lightly-raced Plumatic, a repeat should be more than good enough to see him land this valuable prize. He therefore had to be the best bet on the card in our Longchamp betting tips for October 6.

Noor El Hawa the clear pick in Prix Dollar

In the 1m 2f Group 2 Prix Dollar (15:30), Noor Al Hawa looks the one to be on now stepped back up in trip and dropped in class. This Elias Mikhalides trained five-year-old is a really tough and consistent sort who has won eight of his 19 career starts and also made the frame on nine occasions.

He has been in terrific form after a break landing a Listed contest over 1m 2f at Compiegne, before following-up with an authoritative display over the same trip in a Group 3 at Vichy. Connections then decided to pitch Noor Al Hawa in at the deep end and he was far from disgraced when fourth of 11 to Alpha Centauri in the Prix Jacques le Marois over 1m at Deauville.

The son of Maki tracked the leading pair in the centre group of four until getting outpaced when the tempo quickened two form home, but then rallied late on to be beaten seven lengths. Given that the trip was inadequate in what was hot contest, Noor Al Hawa performed above expectations.

He now returns to much calmer waters and the step back up to 1m 2f is sure to play to his strengths. This also doesn’t look the strongest of renewals of the Prix Dollar, so at the odds on offer Noor Al Hawa makes plenty of appeal now that he has his optimum conditions and rates the next best bet on the eight-race card.

Morgan Le Faye makes plenty of each-way appeal

Morgan Le Faye caught the eye last time out and looks a solid each-way betting proposition in the feature race of the day, the Group 1 Prix du Cadran over 2m 4f (16:40). Like our main punt Plumatic, this four-year-old filly hails from the yard of French master trainer Andre Fabre.

Although she has won just one of her eight starts (on debut), the daughter of Shamardal comes into the race on the back of two solid efforts. In the first of those over 1m 4f at Deauville, Morgan Le Faye challenged two from home before weakening to finish a 4 1/4 lengths fourth of 11 to stable companion Kitesurf in a Group 2.

She was then given far too much to do on Arc trials day here 18 days ago when third of nine to Called to the Bar in the Group 3 Prix Gladiateur over an extended 1m 7f. After being held-up well off the pace, Morgan Le Faye stayed on powerfully when finally pulled out to mount a challenge a furlong from home.

She then stayed on powerfully to be gaining hand over fist at the finish and be beaten just over a length. It was a terrific effort given how the race panned out, and she has only a length to find with the runner-up Holdthasisgreen who is favourite for this.

Judged on the way she finished off the race, Morgan Le Faye also looks well worth a crack at the marathon stamina sapping trip of this – the French equivalent of the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. So, at the odds on offer, she had to be the each-way selection in our Longchamp betting tips for October 6.
