Sir Henry Cecil Stakes Betting Tips: Class-dropping Gabr has plenty going for him

Horsebetting.com experts fancy Gabr to take advantage of a drop in class to land the Listed 1m Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday, 12 July. The Godolphin owned Symbolisation rates the main danger now stepped back up in trip following an eye-catching run last time out. Walk In The Sun looks the each-way wager. Gabr a solid bet in Sir Henry Cecil Stakes

Gabr looks to hold outstanding claims of landing the Listed 1m Sir Henry Cecil Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday (16:45) now eased in grade.

The colt, who hails from the red-hot yard of Sir Michael Stoute, showed progressive form throughout last season in four starts as a juvenile. After coming good at the third time of asking when scoring readily at Yarmouth, the son of Intello ran very well when fading late on to finish fifth of 12 to Saxon Warrior in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.

Gabr looked the type who would come into his own as a three-year-old and that view has been confirmed in his two runs this year. After running a blinder to go down by just three-quarters of a length to Without Parole in a Listed contest at Sandown, Gabr ran well when sixth of 10 to the same rival in the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He raced in touch and held every chance a furlong from home, before being unable to find any extra to be beaten 5 3/4 lengths. That was a hot contest and Gabr had Irish 2000 Guineas winner Romanised half-a-length behind in seventh.

The form reads very well in the context of this much lower grade affair and Gabr retains plenty of potential going forward. With Jim Crowley in the saddle, and the yard boasting an incredible strike rate of just under 37 per cent in the past fortnight, there’s lots to like about him as this looks a great opening to notch a second career success en route to better things.

Symbolisation a big player for the boys in blue

Leading owners Godolphin have seen their famous all blue colours carried to plenty of big race successes this season, so their Symbolisation looks a fascinating contender now stepped back up in trip.

The Charlie Appleby trained colt won over 1m three starts back at this venue over the Rowley Mile and was then far from disgraced when fifth of 11 to Romanised in the Irish 2000 Guineas when sent off just 6/1.

Symbolisation also caught the eye last time out when fourth of 21 to Expert Eye in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot. After being held-up, he stayed on strongly to be nearest at the finish and beaten 5 1/2 lengths.

It was a fine effort, given how the race panned out, and the way in which Symbolisation finished off suggested the step back up to 1m would definitely be in his favour. He gets that now, is one from two over it, and so rates the main danger to Gabr.

Walk In The Sun worth considering each-way

Walk In The Sun finished just three-quarters of a length behind Symbolisation when sixth in the Jersey Stakes, so looks a lively each-way player.

The colt, who was having his first start from trainer Martyn Meade, was also doing all his best work late on. It was just his third career start and he was previously unbeaten in two runs for Jeremy Noseda, landing a maiden at Kempton back in January before bolting up by seven lengths in a novice stakes at Leicester the following month.

Walk In The Sun has come a long way in a short space of time and clearly has plenty of ability and untapped potential. He won’t have to improve much to turn the tables with Symbolisation, while his new handler’s runners are often underestimated in this type of contest.

The son of Street Sense also now tries 1m for the first time and that promises to suit judged on his run in the Jersey Stakes. So, taking everything into consideration, he looks a definite each-way play.
