When Dave was finishing high school, he told a career counsellor that he wanted to be a horse racing journalist. The “polite scepticism” – his words – he received in response did not deter him. Eschewing a formal writing qualification, Dave chose to learn the trade by doing; he volunteered as a groom, spent time around stables, and wrote about every experience in his own journal. Over time, he launched a blog that grew in popularity and led to commissions from both local and national newspapers. Ten years after graduating from high school, Dave had turned the dream into a reality, and five years after that, he joined HorseBetting.com.
