Until five years ago Jamie was a maths teacher; a job that he enjoyed, but did not find particularly exciting. In her spare time, Jamie started to write as a creative outlet; first funny and quirky Facebook posts, or long Instagram captions, before moving to Medium in order to flex his skills in longer form.
While originally Jamie wrote primarily about his time as a teacher and life with her husband, their two sons, and a “veritable menagerie” of pets, in time, Jamie started to write about horse racing too. Such a change is all the more understandable given his history: Jamie grew up in a family who were dedicated to racehorse breeding, and he had long adored the sport and the world of betting that surrounded it.
As his clear writing skill paired with his in-depth knowledge of horse racing, Jamie was commissioned to write about horse racing professionally from a small but highly reputable magazine. This commission was the first of many; eventually, he left his job as a teacher and became a writer full-time, and in 2019, joined with Dave to complete the HorseBetting.com writing staff. He now juggles her writing commitments with caring for her pets and has also recently developed an interest in astronomy.
