Unlike some bookmakers, you can only bet with Betway online and as a product of the digital age they’ve got some pretty unique promotions of interest to horse racing punters. We’re not talking welcome bonuses or sign up offers here, but what does this sportsbook offer to the regular racing gambler?
Depending on what type of horse racing tickles your fancy, they’ve got something extra for you. In this article, we’re taking a look in detail about two promos in particular. For National Hunt racing enthusiasts, Betway have their Lead At The Last promotion. If it’s All-Weather action you’re into, then their Double Winnings offer for horses that earn victory by two or more lengths may be of interest.
No, it’s not a misprint. If a horse you back in races at selected National Hunt meetings in the UK and Republic of Ireland every day is in front when jumping the final fence or flight of hurdles and goes on to lose, then Betway still pay out as though it were a winner. This makes for a unique alternative to the faller insurance offered by other bookmakers, but there are of course terms and conditions to be aware of.
The maximum payout via this Lead At The Last promotion is £100 and only selections at minimum odds of 1/2 (1.5) or higher and real money only stakes between £5 (or £2.50 each-way, though only the win part of the bet counts for the offers) and £20 on win singles placed before the race qualify. National Hunt flat races, also known as bumpers, aren’t eligible towards the promotion because no obstacles are jumped.
If the final fence or flight of hurdles is omitted for any reason, then that race becomes ineligible for payouts and usual dead heat rules apply. Betway are also limiting payouts to one per customer per race and the first bet placed that qualifies is designated as eligible, but will credit payouts in cash within 24 hours of the race ending. Best odds guaranteed do not apply and cannot be used in conjunction with this promotion, so you are taking the price available when placing the bet and will miss out on a bigger starting price.
Ante post bets, forecasts and tricasts, and multiples, including accumulators and system bets, aren’t eligible for this offer either. Enhanced priced offers are deemed alternative markets and cannot be used in conjunctions with this promo and that’s the case with any horse racing offer on this sportsbook at all. A list of eligible meetings is provided by Betway and regularly updated when clicking on the terms of this offer on their promotions page.
If your All-Weather picks win by two lengths or more at a selected meeting every Thursday of the season, then Beway say they’ll double your winnings with up to a £100 free bet bonus token. While there’s no cash payout here, as with the other offer above, it helps to know the terms and conditions before betting.
Unlike the Lead At The Last promo, no minimum odds are specified but an All-Weather race at the selected meeting you’re betting in must have more than six runners in the field to be eligible for Double Winnings. The maximum extra winnings, credited as a free bet bonus token within 24 hours of the race being settled, are £100. A pre-race win single of £5 to £20 (or from £2.50 each-way, but only the win part of this bet qualifies) in real cash only are again the parameters in which you must gamble to get this offer and it cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotions.
That again precludes the use of forecasts and tricasts, multiples (accas and system bets like patents) and ante post and enhanced price markets. Betway refer to the Racing Post results page for confirmation of the winning distances of races. You get just one free bet bonus token per customer per race and this will refer to the first eligible bet you place. Their general free bet terms also apply, including the bonus token being non-refundable as well as not returned as a stake on any winnings and a time limit on using it.
In summary, then, you need the first eligible bet you place in Lead At The Last to not win the race having been in front at the final obstacle if National Hunt racing appeals. You don’t strictly speaking double your winnings at all on the All-Weather promotion either, but can get an extra bet in the form of a bonus token if the first eligible you place on Thursday’s AW meeting wins by a margin of two lengths or bigger.
