The Qatar Goodwood Festival, better and colloquially known as Glorious Goodwood, is a five-day horse racing meeting held at Goodwood Racecourse in West Sussex at the end of July every year. Any sportsbooks worth your time will offer you the best odds guaranteed on all Glorious Goodwood horse racing events. The concept is simple here. If you back a horse on the morning of the race or at some later point in the day before the off, and it is returned at a bigger starting price, then you receive a payout at the bigger odds. This means you don’t miss out on taking an early price in the event that the horse’s odds drift. Most betting sites do run this promotion, but it should never be overlooked or taken for granted by punters.
Don’t forget about live streaming either. If you have placed a bet on a horse through an online sportsbook, then it is only fair and proper that you should be able to see the run for your money. We only recommend horse racing betting sites to you that offer live streams after you place a qualifying bet. This doesn’t just apply to Glorious Goodwood either but the sport on a daily basis.

Qatar Goodwood Festival summary day by day
If you want to learn about the Glorious Goodwood schedule in detail, then we have more elsewhere on the site. Below you will find daily summary of the races that take place at the Qatar Goodwood Festival for each of the five days:
Tuesday at Glorious Goodwood
There are three black type Glorious Goodwood horse racing events on the opening day of the meeting. The first of those is the 7f Group 2 Vintage Stakes for juveniles won in recent years by Shamardal, Sir Percy, Highland Reel and Pinatubo. Following that is the Group 2 Lennon Stakes over the same course and distance for three-year-olds and up. The feature race on Tuesday is the 2m Group 1 Goodwood Cup for stayers, though. This race has a history of multiple winners which include Le Moss, Further Flight, Double Trigger, Persian Punch, Yeats, Big Orange and Stradivarius.
Wednesday at Glorious Goodwood
Day two at Glorious Goodwood sees horses race around an entire circuit of the course right-handed in the extended 2m 4f Goodwood Handicap. It’s a race over even further than the Goodwood Cup! The 5f Group 3 Molecomb Stakes for juveniles is right down at the other end of the Flat horse racing spectrum. That leaves the 1m Group 1 Sussex Stakes for three-year-olds and up as the feature race on Wednesday at the Glorious Goodwood festival. This big race has been dominated by horses aged three over the years because of generous weight-for-age terms. Among the very illustrious roll of honour for the Sussex Stakes are famous racehorses such as Brigadier Gerard, Giant’s Causeway, Rock Of Gibraltar and Frankel.
Thursday at Glorious Goodwood
There is great variety again in the Glorious Goodwood horse racing on day three of the meeting. Juveniles are again in the spotlight in the 6f Group 2 Richmond Stakes open to colts and geldings. The Group 3 Gordon Stakes for three-year-olds over 1m 4f is another age-restricted race and can be a trial for the St Leger at Doncaster. Top billing on Thursday as Glorious Goodwood goes to the fillies and mares taking part in the 1m 2f Group 1 Nassau Stakes. First run in 1840, only the Goodwood Cup has more history The late Sir Henry Cecil is the most successful trainer in Nassau Stakes history with eight victories, although Sir Michael Stoute is just behind him on seven.
Friday at Glorious Goodwood
On the penultimate day of Glorious Goodwood, there are black type races galore. The Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes for fillies and mares aged three and up over 7f is the first of four top class events. Another age-restricted race, the Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes over a mile, also takes place on this race with Cape Cross perhaps its most famous winner. Speaking of events over that distance, the Golden Mile Handicap is one of the big betting heats of the entire festival. The feature race, meanwhile, is the 5f Group 2 King George Stakes for sprinters. This is open to three-year-olds and up with Battaash the only horse to win it three times. Older horses also compete in the 1m 4f Group 3 Glorious Stakes. To enter, a racehorse must be aged four and above, and famous winners include Sixties Icon and Poet’s Word.
Saturday at Glorious Goodwood
Any Glorious Goodwood betting done by punters usually reaches a crescendo on the fifth and final day of the festival. This is a day for getting stuck into handicaps. Black type race lovers don’t have to go without, though, as fillies and mares aged three and up tackle the 1m 6f Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes. Over the same course and distance is the Summer Handicap. Also open to three-year-olds and up, if horses run well in this then it can enhance their chances of making it into the Ebor Handicap at York in August. That leaves the big betting race of the whole meeting, the 6f Stewards’ Cup. This end-to-end-cavalry charge down the straight is one of the best examples of a Heritage Handicap for sprinters in Britain. It was first run in 1840 and always attracts a huge number of entries.
