Lillie Langtry Stakes betting tips – Gosden mare clear on ratings in Group 2 contest
Enbihaar looks a cut above her rivals and a worthy favourite to land back-to-back success of the 1m 6f Lillie Langtry Stakes on the final day of Glorious Goodwood this Saturday (15:00).
This John Gosden trained five-year-old mare improved at a rate of knots throughout last season when winning four of her six starts.
After landing the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks over 1m 4f at Haydock, Enbihaar relished the step back up to 1m 6f when coming from off the pace to power clear and easily beat Manuela De Vega by five lengths.
The daughter of Redoute’s Choice then made it a hat-trick of Group 2 successes when digging deep to land the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster by a short-head from Delphinia.
Connections then pitched Enbihaar into Group 1 company for her final start of the campaign and she ran very well to finish just a length third behind Epsom Oaks winner Anapurna in the Prix De Royallieu at Longchamp.
She had the smart Lah Ti Dar a length behind in fourth and the form of the race reads really well in relation to this lower grade affair.
Enbihaar comes into this on the back of just one run this season, when shaping as if ring rusty and finishing fourth in a Group 2 at Newmarket over 1m 4f.
That should have put her spot on for this. Enbihaar is top rated in the field off 113 and receives 3lb from Manuela De Vega who is next best in off 110.
It makes her very much the one to beat. Odds of 5/4 with Betfred look arguably a bit big in a race where Enbihaar faces just three opponents.
Manuela De Vega the obvious danger in Lillie Langtry Stakes
The aforementioned Manuela De Vega comes into the race having won both her starts this season in fine style, so looks the obvious one to take advantage if Enbihaar fails to live up to expectations.
In the first of those at Haydock, the Ralph Beckett trained four-year-old made all and stayed on strongly to win unchallenged by two lengths from Fanny Logan in the Group 3 Pinnacles Stakes.
Manuela De Vega never looked in danger at any stage and, although she was receiving 5lb from the runner-up, the form has been franked as that one has since landed the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in impressive fashion.
The daughter of Lope De Vega then turned the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks at the same venue into a procession when drawing readily clear to easily account for Makawee by 5 1/2 lengths.
She had the re-opposing Cabaletta just under another seven lengths back in fourth, so has absolutely nothing to fear from Roger Varian’s charge.
Manuela de Vega is clearly right at the top of her game at present. It’s worth bearing in mind that she ran a cracker when fourth in last year’s Epsom Oaks and when beaten just a short-head in a German Group 1 on her final start of last season.
Giving an on-song Enbihaar weight is no easy task, but the stable has been back among the winners of late so a bold bid to land the hat-trick looks assured. William Hill go 5/2 about Manuela De Vega doing just that.

In the 1m 6f Summer Handicap earlier on the card (14:25), top weight King’s Advice looks cracking value at 9/1 with BetVictior to retain his crown.
Trained by Mark Johnston, who loves to target his team at this meeting, this six-year-old improved at a rapid rate of knots last season when winning eight of his 11 starts.
The first came off a rating of 72 in a class 5 at Lingfield, whilst the last came in this hot class 2 handicap off a mark of 102.
King’s Advice stayed on gamely in the latter to beat Outbox by a neck and went on to round off the campaign with a solid neck second to Weekender in a conditions’ contest at Salisbury off an official rating of 112.
The son of Frankel has had six outings this year, and posted his best effort in a Listed contest at Doncaster three starts back when a 1 3/4 lengths runner-up to Red Verdon off 106.
King’s Advice is now able to race in this off a reduced rating of 104 – 4lb lower than when landing the spoils 12 months ago.
It makes him a massive player from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form at a venue where he is unbeaten in two starts.
King’s Advice also has a 36 per cent strike rate in the grade, goes well for Joe Fanning and has his ideal underfoot conditions. So, taking everything into account, he has far more going for him than his odds would suggest.
Hochfeld also a player for Johnston in Summer Handicap
Johnston also saddles another very interesting contender in the shape of Hochfeld, a six-year-old who is on a long losing run but has become well-treated as a result.
This son of Cape Cross was last successful at Newmarket three years ago when bolting up by six lengths off a mark of 92.
He went on to finish third in the 2018 running of this off 102 and also ran a cracker when a neck runner-up to Duretto in a Listed contest at Chester two starts later off 103.
Hochfeld then got injured on his second start in 2019 and spent 409 days on the sidelines. Not surprisingly, he then shaped as if badly needing his first two starts this season.
However, there was much more to like about his run at Sandown 11 days ago when a keeping on 3 1/2 lengths fourth of seven to Mancini.
That was a step back in the right direction and Hochfeld has since been dropped another pound by the assessor. He is now able to race off a mark of 92, the same as when last victorious.
It gives him a big shout at the weights. Hence, at 12/1 with Betway, Hochfeld had to feature as the each-way option in a typically wide-open renewal of Summer Handicap.
