Solario Stakes betting tips – King Vega can reign supreme in juvenile Group 3
Having been a real eye-catcher when runner-up on debut, King Vega is fancied to go one better and land the spoils in the 7f Group 3 Solario Stakes for juvenile colts and fillies at Sandown on Sunday (15:40).
That run came over course and distance where the Andrew Balding trained son of Lope De Vega attracted plenty of support before going down by just three-quarters of a length to Yibir in a 10-runner maiden.
After being restless in the stalls, King Vega raced a bit too keenly in the early stages. Once tracking the leaders, he was then shaken-up at the furlong marker and stayed on strongly to be gaining all the way to the line.
Jockey Rob Hornby was at pains not to give him a hard time and didn’t resort to the whip, so it was a hugely promising introduction run.
The winner is also a well thought of Charlie Appleby inmate who finished third behind a subsequent Group winner on debut, and the pair pulled five lengths clear of the third home Bake.
That gives the form a solid look. King Vega, who showed distinct signs of greenness, looks sure to come on a bundle for the experience. The fact that connections have decided to pitch him straight into Group 3 company speaks volumes.
King Vega looks an exciting prospect with bags of untapped potential. With the in-form Oisin Murphy now taking over in the saddle, he thus looks worth siding with here at the 11/2 on offer with William Hill.
Dubai Fountain sets Solario Stakes standard
Mark Johnston’s Dubai Fountain brings the strongest form into the Solario Stakes, so commands the utmost respect and looks the obvious danger.
This daughter of Teofilo was sent off odds-on to make a winning debut at Doncaster and made all under Franny Norton to readily account for She Do by a length. She won going away and was value for much more than the winning margin.
Dubai Fountain defied a 7lb penalty in style when romping to a facile 8 1/2 lengths success at Haydock before running a huge race in her hat-trick bid in the Listed 7f Star Stakes over course and distance.
She again attempted to make all and when headed inside the last stuck to the task well to go fighting by a length to Fev Rover.
The winner had previously been beaten just a head when second to Royal Ascot winner Dandalla in a Group 2 at Newmarket, so the form looks decent in relation to this.
Dubai Fountain has also since run well to finish second in a Group 3 at Newmarket when collared late on and beaten just over a length by 66/1 outsider Star Of Emaraaty.
She looks sure to give it her best shot and can be backed at 9/2 with Unibet. However, Dubai Fountain doesn’t have the same scope or potential as King Vega, for all that her official rating of 98 sets a decent standard in this.

Atalanta Stakes betting tips – Quadrilateral can cash-in on class drop
Now eased significantly in grade, Quadrilateral looks to hold outstanding claims of resuming winning ways in the 1m Group 3 Atalanta Stakes earlier on the card (15:05).
This Roger Charlton trained three-year-old filly looked a hugely exciting prospect when winning all three starts as a juvenile.
After scoring by a neck on debut at Newbury, the daughter of Frankel sluiced up by nine lengths next time out at the same venue.
Quadrilateral then showed a willing attitude and good turn of foot when pitched into Group 1 company and beating Powerful Breeze at Newmarket.
That saw her sent off the 11/4 favourite to make a winning return to action in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket back in June. Quadrilateral ran really well to finish a 4 1/2 lengths third of 15 to Love.
As the winner has since gone on to more Group 1 successes in the Epsom Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks, and been hailed by Aidan O’Brien as the most exciting filly he has ever trained, the form looks extremely strong in relation to this lower grade affair.
Quadrilateral was also far from disgraced last time out when third to Alpine Star in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. This represents a return to much calmer waters.
It looks a golden opportunity for her to gain a confidence boosting success, so odds of 7/4 with BetVictor look fully justified and Quadrilateral is very hard to oppose.
Lavender’s Blue back to defend Atalanta Stakes crown
Last year’s winner Lavender’s Blue also now drops back in class; so, if Quadrilateral fails to live up to expectations, she appeals as the one most likely to take advantage.
Trained by Amanda Perrett, this four-year-old daughter of Sea The Stars overcame trouble in running and showed a very smart turn of foot to beat Duneflower in this 12 months ago.
She backed that up with a solid effort when staying on to be nearest at the finish and beaten just over three lengths when fourth to Billesdon Brook in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.
Lavender’s Blue has had just two spins this season, shaping as if needing the run when seventh in the Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot before running better than the bare result suggests when sixth of seven to Fancy Blue in the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
As Lavender’s Blue was making headway two from home in the latter, but then denied a clear run, there are excuses. When switched, she then plugged on to be beaten five lengths.
The runner-up Once Voice ran a decent race earlier in the week when third to Love in the Yorkshire Oaks, whilst the third home Nazreef is an improving sort who went into the race on the back of a hat-trick of successes.
So, given how the race panned out, it was a decent run from Lavender’s Blue and one which commands her plenty of respect in this far less taxing assignment.
She should also now be fully tuned to do herself justice and a bold bid to retain her crown looks on the cards. At 9/1 with William Hill, Lavender’s Blue looks well worth considering from an each-way betting point of view.
