Royal Ascot Saturday Betting Tips – Falcon Eight, Ilaraab, Tactical All Fancied

Ascot Betting Tips · Saturday, 19th Jun 2021 - 15:05

These Royal Ascot Saturday betting tips include the last fancies of the meeting. As the curtain comes down on another superb gala of Flat horse racing, find out who to back in the supporting races which include the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes. These are the horses that have caught our experts’ eyes…

Royal Ascot Saturday betting tips – Falcon Eight the main fancy

In the Queen Alexandra Stakes over a marathon extended 2m 5f (18:10), FALCON EIGHT can follow-up on an impressive win in the Chester Cup. Now switching from a handicap to a conditions contest, this Moyglare Stud owned gelding has Listed back form. Trained in Ireland by Dermot Weld, Falcon Eight scored for the first time since that 2019 success at Sandown last time out.

The six-year-old son of Galileo finished a five-length fourth to subsequent Melbourne Cup hero Twilight Payment in a Group 3 in the Emerald Isle on his final start of last season. That forms looks good, and Reshoun, who finished down the field in the Chester Cup, has come out and won the Ascot Stakes earlier in the week.

With Frankie Dettori again taking the ride, odds of 11/2 with Betfair for Falcon Eight look a solid bet. He kept on so strongly at Chester when hitting the front in the final furlong that the extra distance should suit a horse related to dual Irish St Leger heroine Search For A Song.

Of those at bigger odds, I also like SCARAMANGA, who is clearly better than an official Flat rating of 86. Trained by Paul Nicholls, who likes having runners in this, the six-year-old Mastercraftsman gelding won handicap hurdles at Newbury and Sandown this spring. Those exploits over obstacles eared him a jumps mark of 151, so he could well outrun odds of 14/1 with Betfred in this.

Hardwicke Stakes betting tips – Improving Ilaraab appeals for Haggas

Next up, our Royal Ascot Saturday betting tips say ILARAAB can prove himself better than a handicapper in the 1m 4f Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes (15:40). Trained by William Haggas, this four-year-old Wootton Bassett colt has won six races on the spin, so definitely qualifies as an in-form horse.

Ilaraab steps up in grade after four consecutive victories in handicaps. The last three of those came at Newbury and York, and Haggas has already punched his ticket to the Ebor later this summer. That came courtesy of a facile three-length victory in the Jorvik Handicap. As Ilaraab scored easing down, he looks well worth a crack at this level.

There are lots of familiar names in the line-up, but they could be vulnerable to an improving horse. Ilaraab fits the bill, and that’s why our Hardwicke Stakes betting tips focus on him. On ratings, he only needs to make a few pounds of further progress to be up there. Ilaraab looks a great value bet at 8/1 with Bet365 in this contest.

I am taking on the favourite Broome, who is zero from three at the trip. Other Aidan O’Brien runners have disappointed too, so Owen Burrows’ Hukum may be the biggest danger. David Menuisier mare Wonderful Tonight needed more rain. It’s a shame Pyledriver, my ante-post fancy, doesn’t run.

Jersey Stakes betting tips – Tactical the each-way value

And finally, in the 7f Group 3 Jersey Stakes for three-year-olds (15:05), TACTICAL looks a great each-way bet. This royal runner aptly won at the meeting last year when he landed the Windsor Castle Stakes. Tactical then confirmed the form with the runner-up Yazaman in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket.

Trainer Andrew Balding then saw his charge keep on into a far from disgraced fifth in the Prix Morny at Deauville. He was then an outpaced fourth in the Group 1 Middle Park at Newmarket and wasn’t at the races at all in the Dewhurst Stakes. When eased in grade to Listed level for the European Free Handicap over this trip on reappearance, Tactical got his head back in front.

He got up close home and beat the re-opposing Naval Crown by a neck. Although the runner-up meets Tactical off 1lb better terms, there shouldn’t be such a disparity in terms of price. What didn’t make sense to me was stepping him down in trip off the back of that effort last time out.

Creative Force ran out five lengths too good for Tactical over 6f at Newbury. As he stayed on into third in the final strides, however, going back up in distance should suit. At a top-price 16/1 with BetVictor, who pay four places, Tactical looks the each-way value and finishes off our Royal Ascot Saturday betting tips and for the meeting as a whole.
