Leicester betting tips: Early Du Lemo and Thounder feature among Thursday fancies

Betting Tips · -

Leicester betting tips for January 10 from Horsebetting.com say Desirable Court is impossible to oppose in the Listed 2m Charnwood Forest Mares’ Chase, so she is the NAP on the six-race card. Early Du Lemo ran well when runner-up last time out, so is our next best bet to go one better and land the spoils in the 2m novices’ handicap chase that gets proceedings underway. Thounder, meanwhile, looks capable of going well in the 2m handicap hurdle now eased significantly in grade, so appeals each-way. Find out more about these horses in our in-depth preview with Leicester betting tips for January 10 below.Desirable Court impossible to oppose in Listed mares’ featureDesirable Court looks in a totally different league to her rivals and impossible to oppose in the feature race at Leicester on Tuesday, the Listed 2m Charnwood Forest Mares’ Chase (13:45). This Dan Skelton trained six-year-old has won two of her three starts over the larger obstacles and is miles clear of her three rivals on official ratings.

In the last of those successes on seasonal reappearance over 2m 4f at this venue, the daughter of Court Cave showed a likeable attitude when beating Amour De Nuit by half-a-length. After tracking the leaders, she took up the running two from home travelling well.

Desirable Court then found extra when challenged on the run-in to gamey hold off the persistent challenge of the runner-up, who was sent off the 4/11 favourite.  Although she was in receipt of 12lb that day, there was nothing not to like about the way in which she got the job done.

The front two also pulled 59 lengths clear of the third home Pauls Hill, who was rated 128 going into the contest, so that gives the form a solid look. Desirable Court has been raised just 1lb for that victory to 131, but that rating still puts her 15lb and upward clear of her rivals in what is an extremely weak renewal.

Granted a clear round, she should be winning this with with the minimum of fuss; so, despite very cramped odds, Desirable Court had to be the main selection in our Leicester betting tips for January 10 for the Charnwood Forest Mares’ Chase.Early Du Lemo taken to go one betterEarly Du Lemo posted a much improved effort when runner-up last time out, so now eased in grade looks worth a wager to go one better and land the spoils in the 2m novices’ handicap chase that gets proceedings underway (12:35). This six-year-old, who hails from the yard of Gary Moore, had some fair form to his name over hurdles last season – including when second in a class 2 handicap at Newbury off a rating of 120.

As a result, the gelding started this season off a mark of 123 and it’s fair to say that his first two runs over fences were underwhelming. However, there was much more to like about his run 12 days ago in a class 3 handicap back at Newbury when chasing home Another Crick.

Early Du Lemo took up the running from flagfall and quickly established a wide-margin lead. He then made a mistake when joined by the eventual winner three form home and again hit the second last hard. A further blunder at the last saw him headed, but it was to his credit that he stuck to the task to go down by just two lengths.

It was a performance which suggested he had the ability to win races over fences – providing he cuts out the jumping errors. The assessor has also been kind in raising him just 1lb to a mark of 120.

Judged on his hurdles form that looks exploitable, especially as he now drops down into class 4 company. Early Du Lemo also remains lightly-raced and open to further improvement after just seven starts. So, with the yard in decent form at present, he is taken to open his account and thus features as our next best bet in these Leicester betting tips for January 10.Class-dropping Thounder makes plenty of appealMoore also saddles another interesting contender in the 2m handicap hurdle (14:20) in the shape of Thounder. This five-year-old has won two of his four starts over the obstacles and take a significant drop in grade, having failed to shine when pulled-up on seasonal reappearance.

That run came in a very competitive Listed contest at Sandown where was never travelling at any stage on bottomless ground and his rider called it a day two from home. Thounder has since been quickly dropped 3lb to a mark of 115, and that gives him major claims from a handicapping perspective on the pick of his form in this class 3 affair lacking any real strength in-depth.

Given that both his wins have come on good ground, the return to a quicker is sure to suit Thounder. He was very impressive in the second of those when forging clear to score by five lengths at Wincanton where he had a now 130-rated rival in Risk And Roll a further three-quarters of a length behind in third.

Judged on that success, Thounder could be thrown-in at the weights in this. If bouncing back to anything like his best, it will be disappointing if he doesn’t make the frame at the very least. That’s why he is our each-way punt and completes these Leicester betting tips for January 10.Your Next Bet
