Dewhurst Stakes betting tips – Chindit a strong fancy in juvenile Group 1

Having won all his three starts in the manner of a top notch prospect, Chindit looks the one to be on in the 7f Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes for juveniles at Newmarket this Saturday (14:55).

This Richard Hannon trained son of Wootton Bassett was well-backed on debut at Doncaster and never gave his supporters an anxious moment.

After racing prominently going well, Chindit only had to be pushed out under a hands and heels ride to readily beat Alablaq by just 1 3/4 lengths.

He then followed up in good style when pitched him into Listed at Ascot and beating Cog by 1 3/4 lengths in the Pat Eddery Stakes – despite losing vital ground when getting carried right at the start.

Under a confident ride from Pat Dobbs, Chindit then made smooth headway to from home and showed a smart turn of foot inside the last to score with plenty in hand

The runner-up won a Listed contest next time up, whilst the third home Naval Crown also went on to taste success at York before finishing third in a Group 3 at Longchamp. That gave the form a rock solid look.

Chindit duly took the step up into Group 2 company in his stride last time out at Doncaster when showing a very smart turn of foot to beat Albasheer by a length.

There is no reason why he should not confirm the form with the re-opposing runner-up in the Dewhurst Stakes and, judged on the manner of that victory, Chindit should be up to winning races at this elite level.

With Dobbs once again in the saddle, he is thus a strong fancy at 5/2 with Bet365 to go in again and further enhance his credentials for next year’s 2000 Guineas.

Zetland Stakes betting tips – Kyprios appeals under Moore

In the 1m 2f Group 3 Zetland Stakes (13:45), Kyprios looks a worthy favourite to land the spoils for all-conquering Irish handler Aidan O’Brien following a taking success on debut.

That came over 1m at Galway where the son of Galileo landed a seven-runner maiden by three-quarters of a length from Lifetime Visit.

Kyprios ran very green in the early stages and had to be rousted along by Seamie Heffernan. The penny then began to drop and he stayed on strongly to get up in the last 100 yards to win going away at the line.

In the circumstances he did well to reel in the runner-up and the third home Flying Visit has since gone on to open his account by six lengths at Listowel. That gives the form a decent look.

Kyprious is sure to come on a bundle for that experience. The way in which he finished off also suggested that the extra two furlongs he tackles here would be right up his street.

This also doesn’t look the strongest of renewals of the Zetland and Ryan Moore now gets the leg up on Kyprios. Lone Eagle is the highest rated in the field off 90, but does not set the bar very high.

It will be disappointing if Kyprios isn’t up to proving he is better than that level. Odds of 7/4 with 888sport therefore look fully justified and Kyprios is taken to land this en route to better things.

Autumn Stakes Stakes betting tips – One Ruler a big player

Now stepped up in trip, One Ruler makes plenty of appeal at the 7/2 on offer with Betfred in the 1m Group 3 Autumn Stakes (14:20).

This Charlie Appleby trained son of Dubawi, who carries the famous all -lue colours of leading owners Godolphin, shaped with plenty of promise when runner-up on debut at Sandown before opening his account in good style at the same venue over 7f.

One Ruler made all and only had to be pushed out to beat Maximal by 1 1/2 lengths. He has nothing to fear from the re-opposing runner-up or Latest Generation who finished a further neck behind in third.

The selection was sent off favourite to land a Listed contest at Doncaster on the back of that. He also ran well to finish a keeping on 2 3/4 lengths third of 11 to New Mandate after being short of room when trying to mount a challenge inside the final furlong.

As the winner is a smart sort who has since gone on to land a Group 2 at this venue, it was a fine effort in defeat given how the race panned out.

The step up to a mile should also suit One Ruler, given the style in which he won over Sandown’s stiff seven furlongs and he appeals as the type that has more to offer for a yard going well at present.
