Fairyhouse betting tips: Coeur Sublime, Quick Grabim and Tornado Watch tempting on Sunday

Betting Tips · -

The Fairyhouse betting tips for December 2 at Horsebetting.com rate Coeur Sublime the NAP of the supporting events on this seven race-card in the Grade 3 juvenile hurdle. Quick Grabim is next best for the 2m Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, because he’s better off at the weight with a re-opposing stablemate. Tornado Watch, meanwhile, looks each-way value in the 2m Grade A handicap hurdle based on his last run. Get all the details in these Fairyhouse betting tips for December 2.Coeur Sublime fancied to follow-up at FairyhouseWe’ve plenty of Fairyhouse betting tips for December 2 on offer for the second day of their Winter Festival this Sunday, and the seven-race card kicks off with a 2m Grade 3 juvenile hurdle contest (12:35). Coeur Sublime has useful Flat form to his name and made a winning National Hunt debut for new connections last time out, so looks capable of making a step up in grade to land the spoils.

Prior to joining Gordon Elliott, the son of Elusive Pimpernel landed a 1m 2f Navan maiden on the level on racecourse debut in April. He was all out and just held Southern France by a head. That race has thrown up all sorts of winners since, and it’s well worth remembering the runner-up came out and landed a Listed prize, finished second in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot and third in the St Leger at Doncaster.

Followed-up on Flat win

That is top three-year-old Flat form and it made Coeur Sublime an exciting recruit to jumps racing when sent to County Meath handler Elliott. He confirmed that status when making a winning bow over hurdles at Down Royal last month.

After racing in mid-division, Coeur Subline took closer order and chased the leaders on the inner before being switched three out. He then came to take it up at the penultimate flight and all Bryan Cooper had to do was push him clear, as he kept on well from the last and beat Our Legend by 1 1/2 lengths.

It was a taking debut and Coeur Sublime is infinitely more unexposed than stable companion Chief Justice. He thus appeals as the type to take this step up in grade in his stride and come on for his hurdles bow. Other major Irish stables don’t have representation in this year’s renewal, so Elliott’s leading contender thus rates the NAP of our Fairyhouse betting tips for December 2.Quick Grabim better off in Royal BondWillie Mullins has won a record seven runnings of the 2m Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle and is double-handed in this year’s renewal (13:05). The clear preference of his pair is Quick Grabim, who meets stablemate Aramon off 7lb better terms than when fourth behind him last time out and that swing in the weights looks enough to reverse the form.

This six-year-old beautifully bred son of Oscar and a Beneficial mare won a Leopardstown bumper at the 2016 Christmas Festival, and then contested the British Champion event at Cheltenham. He then joined Closutton handler Mullins and was a nearest at the finish half-a-length runner-up to Mind’s Eye over course and distance on hurdles debut and reappearance last season.

Quick Grabim then took a tumble at Leopardstown and was off for 260 days before breaking the maiden tag on his return at the Listowel Harvest Festival. He ran out a comfortable four-length winner, reversing Champion Bumper form with the runner-up Bakmaj and fourth horse home, Debuchet.

Grade 3 winner

A step up in class for a Grade 3 novice hurdle contest at Tipperary proved no problem for Quick Grabim next time up, as he took it all in his stride and was pushed out up the run-in to beat Triplicate by 5 1/2 lengths. Although 4lb worse off with that re-opposing rival here, who previously beat subsequent conqueror Aramon, that doesn’t look sufficient to help the JP McManus owned horse to turn the tables.

While Quick Grabim never troubled the leaders last time out at Navan, he was under a 7lb penalty for his previous success in the grade. With the five runners meeting in this off level weights, he only has 4 1/2 lengths to find on Aramon and is thus fancied on the revised terms.

Despite the presence of an unbeaten respected rival in Commander Of Fleet, that one is more difficult to assess. Although respected, Quick Grabim looks the value bet at the odds available and therefore also features in our Fairyhouse betting tips for December 2.Tornado Watch worth chancing each-wayWith a host of valuable and famous races in the middle of the card, there’s an ultra-competitive 2m Grade A handicap hurdle before the bumper (15:10). If replicating his massive run when second in the USA last time out, then Tornado Watch looks overpriced and well worth an each-way punt.

The nine-year-old is trained by Emmet Mullins and has won five of his 19 hurdles starts, finishing second on three other occasions. After winning handicaps over timber at Tramore and Kilbeggan in the spring, Tornado Watch chased subsequent Irish Derby hero Latrobe home in a 1m 4f Curragh maiden on the Flat.

He then went closer when runner-up and stepped up in trip at Ballinrobe and again at Leopardstown, before landing a lady riders’ 2m maiden back at Tramore. Tornado Watch missed the Pentingo Handicap on Irish Champions Weekend because of a bad scope, but was back in action over hurdles in the American Grand National at Fair Hills last time out.

Impressive performance stateside

After being held-up, he made headway after two out and chasing the leader, but found himself short of room. That forced David Mullins to switch Tornado Watch approaching the last and he kept on well to be beaten just 3 1/4 lengths by Jury Duty.

Given how the race panned out, and considering the winner is rated 24lb higher than him in this sphere, it was a massive effort. The form also had a very solid look to it, as Tornado Watch pulled 10 lengths clear of the third. A repeat of that, now racing off a mark of 123 which just got him into this 22-runner line-up, should surely see him make the frame.

Mullins has booked 7lb claimer Conor Orr to take the ride on Tornado Watch here after riding a treble at Limerick on Friday. Taking that into account, his in-form jockey puts him into this typically wide-open renewal off bottom weight and he thus completes our Fairyhouse betting tips for December 2 as an each-way option for a race where some bookies pay extra places.Your Next Bet
