The King Edward VII Stakes betting tips at Horsebetting.com say Delano Roosevelt is worth a wager to win this 1m 4f Group 2 contest for three-year-old colts and geldings at Royal Ascot 2018 on Friday, 22 June. Aidan O’Brien stablemate Giuseppe Garibaldi is each-way value, but the danger is the unexposed Raa Atoll for John Gosden. This colt has placed behind some of the most highly-regarded three-year-olds in training.
Delano Roosevelt was runner-up to Saxon Warrior in the Group 2 Beresford Stakes on his final start as a juvenile and he was only beaten half-a-length on reappearance in the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown to another stablemate in Nelson. The form of his penultimate outing, when he was a three-quarters of a length second to Hazapour, was franked in The Derby at Epsom as both Saxon Warrior and that rival finished in front of Delano Roosevelt. He has been highly tried by connections in races where the opposition all had Classic ambitions, so may find an ease in grade a chance to secure a deserved victory.
Delano Roosevelt is 2lb clear of the King Edward field on official ratings at a mark of 110 and races off level weights with them. Those rated closest to him have plenty to prove after poor runs last time out, so he’s probably a worthy favourite to give his handler just a second success in this contest.Raa Atoll may be underratedJohn Gosden enjoyed a great start to Royal Ascot 2018 and his Raa Atoll could well defy his lowly mark and give Delano Roosevelt most to think about in this. As one of only two distance winners in the lineup, there is evidence he gets this trip. This son of Sea The Stars was a two-length runner-up to Nordic Lights on debut at Newmarket before winning at Nottingham.
Raa Atoll confirmed the form with the re-opposing Elector in that second start when ridden and keeping on strongly in the final furlong to land the spoils by 1 1/2 lengths. He was then successfully stepped up to today’s trip. A prominent run at Leicester saw him stay on well for a two-length victory. That earned him an official rating of 93 from the assessor.
That could be seriously underestimating Raa Atoll, who represents in-form connections in Gosden and jockey Frankie Dettori following his treble on day one of Royal Ascot. They have been bold enough to pitch him into Group 2 company here and the bookmakers are taking no chances with Raa Atoll, who is also towards the head of the betting. Giuseppe Garibaldi each-way valueAnother of the O’Brien trio, Giuseppe Garibaldi appeals most if you’re after an each-way bet in the King Edward this year. Like Raa Atoll, he gets the trip having landed the Listed King George V Cup at The Curragh just three weeks ago. Giuseppe Garibaldi looked value for more than the winning margin when asserting his lead but wandering slightly at the finish.
Prior to that, this son of Galileo comfortably landed a 1m 5f Navan maiden when going best under two out and leading before the furlong pole. Giuseppe Garibaldi was again in command and value for more than the winning distance. He has only failed to make the frame once in seven career starts and that on debut. Recent improvement in Giuseppe Garibaldi suggests he can go close here and perhaps punch above his mark of 102.
It leaves him as the clear each-way value among 2018 King Edward VII Stakes betting tips while available at a double figure price. Your Next Bet
