Arthur Kitt is a likeable sort who lost little in defeat last time out behind the hugely exciting Too Darn Hot and is feared most. Irish raider Cape Of Good Hope chased home a subsequent Group 1 winner when last seen in action, so makes plenty of each-way appeal. This colt hails from the yard of John Gosden, who has won the 1m juvenile contest on five occasions – including two of the last four renewals.
After forging clear inside the last to easily beat Venedgar by two lengths in a nine-runner maiden over 7f at Sandown, the Princess Haya owned son of Scat Daddy could not have been more impressive when landing a six-runner novice stakes contest over 1m at Haydock.
Beatboxer made made virtually all in the hands of Frankie Dettori and cruised clear two from home to register a facile 3 3/4 lengths success over Rajinsky. He barely had to break sweat and had the field strung out like washing. The runner-up has also come out and won since, but it was the manner in which he got the job done that was most striking.
The way in which Beatboxer effortlessly changed gears without being asked any sort of question suggested he was a well above average sort who needed keeping firmly onside. This obviously demands more, but this juvenile falls into the “could be anything” category and his proven winning form over the trip is a big plus.
So, with Dettori once again in the saddle, he looks a worthy favourite to take this en route to even bigger and better things. We therefore had no hesitation in making Beatboxer the main selection in our 2018 Royal Lodge Stakes betting tips.Top rated Arthur Kitt sure to give it his best shotArthur Kitt has an official rating of 107, making him the highest in the line-up. It puts him 10lb clear of Boxbeater and he lost little in defeat last time out when chasing Too Darn Hot, arguably the most exciting juvenile seen out so far this season, in the Group 3 Solario Stakes at Sandown. He therefore looks the obvious danger in this.
Trained in Cheshire by Tom Dascombe, this son of Derby winner Camelot attempted to make all in the Solario. He pushed on rounding the home turn and quickly had many rivals under pressure. The one exception was Too Darn Hot, who headed him at the furlong marker and quickened clear to win impressively.
Arthur Kitt was unable to match that rival’s blistering turn of foot, but did stick to the task well. He also had the third home Confiding, who had run well to finish third in a Group 3 going into the race, 3 3/4 lengths behind in third. That gives the form a solid look in the context of this contest and Arthur Kitt had won his previous two starts.
In the second of those, he showed a good attitude to dig deep and beat Nate The Great by a neck in the Listed 7f Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. Arthur Kitt is clearly a talented sort and there was lots to like about the battling qualities he showed that day.
He won’t shirk the issue should it come down to a battle and looks sure to give it his best shot to try and return to winning ways in this. Whether he has the same scope and potential as Beatboxer is another matter. However, he is still feared most given his solid form.Cape Of Good Hope holds leading each-way claimsBallydoyle maestro Aidan O’Brien saddles three in a bid to win the race for a sixth time. Cape of Good Hope looks the clear form pick of the trio. He’s an improving sort who should have even more to offer now stepped up in trip, so makes plenty of each-way appeal at the odds on offer.
This beautifully bred a Galileo colt out of a Danehill mare came good at the third time of asking when landing an extended 7f contest at Tipperary. After being bounced out of the gates, he made all and stayed on strongly to readily beat Decisive Action by a length.
Connections them pitched Cape Of Good Hope into Group 2 company and he ran very well when a staying 3 3/4 lengths second to Quorto on the 7f Superlative Stakes over the July course at this venue. He again attempted to make all, but was unable to match the turn of foot shown by the winner when headed at the furlong marker.
Given that Quorto has since gone on to land the Group 1 National Stakes at The Curragh and is now unbeaten in three starts, it was a solid effort. The extra furlong of this should play Cape Of Good Hope’s strengths and he has every chance of making making the frame at least. He thus features as the each-way punt in our 2018 Royal Lodge Stakes betting tips.Your Next Bet
