Read our in-depth 2018 Flying Childers Stakes betting tips preview for more details.Rumble Inthejungle a strong fancy in Flying ChildersRumble Inthejungle could not have been more impressive when scoring last time out, so looks a worthy favourite to follow-up and land the spoils in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes – a juvenile contest run over the flying 5f at the Doncaster St Leger Festival on Friday (14:25).
That win came in the the Group 2 Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood where he beat Life Of Riley by 2 1/2 lengths. After getting bumped at the start, the Richard Spencer trained son of Bungle IntheJungle was forced to race in mid-division; he then made a move at the three marker before taking up the running travelling powerfully two from home.
When jockey Tom Qually then asked him to go about his business inside the last, the response was immediate and he quickened clear to win easily. Rumble Inthejungle scored with any amount in hand and, given how the race panned out, it was a performance which could even been upgraded.
He also had Soldier’s Call (third), Vintage Brut (fourth) and Well Done Fox (seventh) all in-behind, so has nothing to fear from that re-opposing trio. It was a career best performance from the colt who has now won two of his three starts.
His only defeat came in the Group to Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot where he stayed on from off the pace to finish a solid two-length fourth of 11 to Shang Shang Shang. Prior to that, he had shown a good attitude on debut when making all and gamely beating the aforementioned Well Done Fox by a neck at Salisbury.
After his stunning Molecomb success, regular pilot Queally – who rode Frankel to all his 14 victories – described Rumble Inthejungle as “one of the best juveniles I’ve ever ridden”. That is praise indeed and, after just three starts, he remains open to stacks more progress.
So, taking everything into account, there is nothing not to like about the chances of Rumble Inthejungle in this. He therefore had to be our main selection in these 2018 Flying Childers Stakes betting tips.Soldier’s Call sure to give it his best shotAlthough firmly put in his place when a 2 3/4 lengths third to Rumble Inthejungle in the Molecomb, Soldier’s Call was sent off the 6/4 favourite and had a progressive profile going into the race. He has also won since, so therefore looks a key player in this and rates the main danger to the selection.
After finishing a highly-promising second on debut, the Archie Watson trained son of Showcasing showed the benefit of that experience when readily opening his account at Haydock. Connections then pitched him into Listed company and Soldier’s Call made virtually all, running on strongly to beat Sabre by three-quarters of a length in the 28-runner Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
It was a really gutsy display and since the Molecomb he has landed a Group 3 at Chantilly to make it three wins from five starts. Soldier’s Call made all in France to win unchallenged by a length from Queen Of Bermuda and is clearly a very useful sort.
If allowed an easy lead he could well prove a tough nut to crack and only has 1lb to find with Rumble Inthejungle on official ratings. A bold bid looks assured, and if Rumble Inthejungle does fail to live up to expectations, Soldier’s Call looks the obvious one to take advantage – providing the race does not come too soon as his Chantilly win was just 13 days ago.Irish raider Indigo Balance another with claimsIrish handler Jessica Harrington has enjoyed tremendous success this season, so the fact the she sends over Indigo Balance makes him another to consider in what looks a competitive renewal. This son of Invincible Spirit has won two of his four starts and comes into the race on the back of a career best effort when landing a Listed 5f contest at The Curragh.
After being waited with at the rear of the eight-runner field, Indigo Balance was switched right at halfway and made stealthy headway to throw down a challenge at the furlong marker. He the stayed on strongly inside the last to pull clear late on and beat Gossamer Wings by 1 3/4 lengths.
He meets the re-opposing runner-up on exactly the same terms, so there is no reason why he should not once again come out on top. Prior to that, Indigo Balance had been far from disgraced when highly-tried and finishing a keeping on 3 3/4 lengths fourth of five to Advertise in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh.
That race was a muddlingly run affair which didn’t play to his strengths, and the bigger field of this in which a stronger gallop looks assured will be much more in his favour. Indigo Balance looks more than capable of making his presence felt in this, so at the odds on offer he had to feature as the each-way punt in our 2018 Flying Childers Stakes betting tips.Your Next Bet
