Leopardstown betting tips for December 27 and day two of the Christmas Festival at Horsebetting.com say Triplicate rates the NAP of the seven-race card in the 2m Grade 1 Future Champions Novice Hurdle. Ballyoisin also represents leading owner JP McManus in the other Grade 1, the Sugar Paddy Chase over 2m 1f, and is the next best bet. De Name Escapes Me, meanwhile, is a solid each-way bet in the 3m Paddy Power Chase. Read all about these horses in our detailed Leopardstown betting tips for December 27 below.Triplicate a tempting punt to go one better in Future ChampionsLeading Irish owner JP McManus has a big day ahead of him at Leopardstown on Thursday with many runners in the graded races. Triplicate can go one better and land the Grade 1 Future Champions Novice Hurdle (13:50) for trainer Joseph O’Brien.
This five-year-old son of Galileo is two from five over the obstacles and has finished runner-up on his last couple of starts in graded company. With dual conqueror Quick Grabim not in opposition in this, Triplicate arguably brings the best form to the table here.
After winning a maiden hurdle at Galway in August, he then followed-up at the Listowel Harvest Festival where he proved 1 1/4 lengths too good for the re-opposing Aramon. Triplicate also has that one well held on those two subsequent starts in graded races.
As he improved to get nearer Quick Grabim in the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse last time out, this looks a great opening for Triplicate to go one better. Despite the presence of another McManus horse in mare Sancta Simona, who gets weight, it’s Triplicate who appeals most and thus rates our NAP of the Leopardstown betting tips for December 27.Ballyoisin also appeals in Sugar Paddy ChaseThe other Grade 1 on day two of the Christmas Festival is the 2m 1f Sugar Paddy Chase (13:15), and Ballyoisin comes into this competitive renewal off the back of an impressive victory. Trained by Enda Bolger, this seven-year-old son of Presenting is six from 12 over fences and has fewer question marks over him than other McManus runner Great Field.
Ballyoisin has improved from a handicapper into a graded horse showing he’s effective over this trip and further if need be. Good ground is no problem for him either after winning his last three chase starts. Market leader Footpad has never won on such a sound surface and, given that one fell when tired at Naas on reappearance, he has it all to do to bounce back.
Using Ordinary World as a form marker, who has chased both Ballyoisin and Great Field home this year, the selection beat that one by double the distance giving weight away. It gives him serious claims of taking another step up in grade to elite company here.
As Ballyoisin gets retained McManus rider Barry Geraghty again in the saddle, and he’s on a 38 per cent strike rate in the fortnight before Christmas, a bold bid looks assured. It makes him look the value bet to sock it to Footpad and Great Field, so he’s thus our next best punt in these Leopardstown betting tips for December 27.De Name Escapes Me an each-way betIn a typically wide-open renewal of the Grade B Paddy Power Chase over 3m later on the card (15:00), De Name Escapes Me is solid each-way bet for McManus despite a double penalty. Trained by Noel Meade, this eight-year-old son of Vinnie Roe is still rated 10lb lower over fences than hurdles as the handicapper waits to have his say.
De Name Escapes Me carries 14lb extra here for an unextended half-a-length victory over Solomn Grundy in the Foxrock at Navan earlier this month, where he was value for more than that winning margin. Considering his hurdles mark of 143, a revised chase rating of 133 for this may not be enough to stop him from going in again.
The front two pulled nine lengths clear of the third home, so the Navan form has a rock-solid look to it. De Name Escapes Me has only won one of his five starts over fences, but looks the best handicapped horse in this fiercely competitive contest.
Plenty are in with chances in the 28-runner field; so, with bookmakers paying extra places galore on the Paddy Power Chase, he is well worth backing each-way. That means De Name Escapes me completes our Leopardstown betting tips for December 26.Your Next Bet
