Cheltenham day 4 tips & preview
This is the Horsebetting.com guide Gold Cup day at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival. If you’re looking for Cheltenham day 4 tips for this card, then you’ve come to the right place! This is the preview for the final Friday of the big National Hunt horse racing meeting.
In the Triumph Hurdle that kicks the card off at 1:20, top British and Irish juvenile jumpers collide. Zanahiyr returns after a winter break and is favourite for Grade 1 glory on his first start. Tritonic was a better horse on the Flat, however, so Alan King’s charge has big claims too.
Spring Juvenile Quilixios also commands respect, yet moved yards to the Henry De Bromhead stable. What all these market principals lack is course form, but ADAGIO brings that to the table and rates a solid each-way bet. Watch our for dark horse Tax For Max, who could build on his debut for Willie Mullins and go well at bigger odds.
Albert Bartlett really open
In the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at 2:30, Stattler heads the betting. On the way he shaped at Leopardstown last time out, however, there are no guarantees he will get the trip. These Cheltenham day 4 tips suggest looking elsewhere for value.
Fakiera has looked like stamina will be his bag in contrast. He had an entry in a trial for this at Cheltenham earlier in the season, but ran elsewhere. Expect him to stay on past beaten horses. Torygraph is yet another Irish raider gambled on ante post and he could be involved in the finish.
The British contenders are no forlorn hopes in a race which our Cheltenham day 4 tips say is more open than the market suggests. BARBADOS BUCK’S has completed a hat-trick in minor events and won by outstaying his rivals for Paul Nicholls. Stable companion Threeunderthrufive could also go well.

The feature contest is of course the Cheltenham Gold Cup at 3:05, and AL BOUM PHOTO goes for his hat-trick. Those horses he got the better of last year haven’t done much to suggest there will be a different result this time around.
Al Boum Photo does have new rivals to contend with as well. They include Champ, whose turbo charge rather than jumping helped him win the RSA last season. The Gold Cup trip should suit him, but Nicky Henderson and JP McManus’s horse hasn’t had ideal prep.
What we have seen of Champ since last year’s Festival was encouraging, though. A Plus Tard comes here fresh after a great display of stamina saw him win the Lexus Chase at Christmas. That form has been advertised since by Kemboy.
Venetia Williams novice Royale Pagaille may run in the National Hunt Chase instead, while Frodon is a plucky underdog you can’t help but admire. The worry with him, however, is a contested lead with 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Native River.
New Mares’ Chase all about Mullins
In the final graded race of the Festival, the Mares’ Chase at 4:15, two Mullins mounts may have it between them. This is the newest addition to the Cheltenham programme, and ELIMAY has probably had this as her target for a long time.
She is three from four over the larger obstacles and beat Shattered Love easily in the Opera Hat around Naas last time out. The danger to her comes from stable companion Colreevy, a novice who has been to the Festival twice before without success. She has come into her own over fences, though.
Also on Gold Cup day are the County Hurdle and Martin Pipe for conditional jockeys. These two Cheltenham handicaps complete the schedule alongside the Festival Hunter Chase.
