Dave is a born writer, with a deep-rooted talent in stringing words together in a way that turns even the driest of stories into a compelling, exciting read. Having written for his college newspaper and local gazette paper, his talent grew to the point he was so in-demand he struggled to manage the freelance clients asking for his time. After eight years writing about horse racing for a variety of different sites and newspapers, Dave chose to write solely for HorseBetting.com and fixed the goal of making the site the best US horse racing resource on the web firmly in his sights.
The spark that ultimately fuelled the path of Dave’s career was a quirk of geography. When he was eight, Dave’s family moved to Lexington, KY, which brought him within a stone’s throw of Keeneland. Dave’s imagination was instantly captured the first time he attended the track, and it remains his favorite place in the world to this day. In 2015, he was particularly delighted to be able to attend the Breeders’ Cup at the track that sparked a lifelong passion.
Dave, who is married with a daughter, has since moved out of Lexington but still lives in Kentucky. As well as horse racing, he is a huge Cincinnati Bengals fan as well as other equine events such as three-day eventing.
TVG.com Reviews & Ratings US 2021
TVG.com Ratings - Is TVG.com Reliable & Secure?
When you bet on horses online, finding the right operator can be hard. With thousands of options, each with its own pros and cons, the best choice isn’t always obvious. Our TVG.com reviews are here to help you make up your mind.
TVG.com is one of the oldest horse race wagering services around, having launched in 1999 as Television Games Network. A former member of Churchill Downs Incorporated, TVG.com US is currently part of the Betfair family. The pedigree and renown of these companies ensure TVG.com ratings are higher than most of their competitors.
TVG.com US has made a name for itself as a premier wagering service by providing detailed information on over 150 horse race tracks worldwide. Our TVG.com reviews would be remiss if we didn’t also bring attention to the wide choice of offers available.
TVG.com: Pros & Cons
Over twenty years experience in horse racing wagering
Over 150 horse race tracks to choose from
Opinions from leading industry experts
Exclusive horse race content
Players must be physically located in a state that allows online gambling
It’s common for Advanced Wagering Services to offer promotions and bonuses to attract and keep customers. TVG.com is no different, although it has a refreshingly diverse choice available. Let’s take a look!
So players can take betting to the next level, offers by TVG tempt us with a tantalizing selection of promos. New players can get a $200 risk-free bet on their first single horse win bet, which is an interesting way to encourage sign-ups.
There’s also a friend referral bonus scheme, in which players get $25 for every new person they refer to the site.
At the time of writing, there were four different cash-back offers relevant to specific tracks, as well as two big-money contests and daily top picks by resident experts. TVG.com really does take wagering seriously, and this is reflected in the promotions and specials.

Usability, Look & Feel - Our TVG.com Reviews
For an advanced wagering service to stand out from the crowd, it needs to make a special effort. TVG.com US does this by reducing the time it takes to access relevant information. As soon as the site loads (quickly, we might add), everything we need to know is presented clearly and logically.
Current and upcoming races are listed chronologically down the left-hand side; Today’s Popular Races are right in the middle of the page. Top Tracks, Top Pools, and a Promotions Calendar sit below.
Links to Horse Racing, Handicapping, Promotions, and the Support Center appear along the top of the page, with buttons to access the actual TV part of the site, and member log-in, in the top right corner.
Everything is presented in different shades of blue, with text being readable in white or black. In other words, even though there is a lot of information to parse, it isn’t challenging to do so.
Payments - TVG.com US Deposit Options
TVG.com US has eight ways to deposit money online: Betcash, Debit/Credit card, TVG Prepaid card, Green Dot MoneyPak, PayNearMe, Paypal, Gift cards and Wire Transfer. This abundant selection helped boost our TVG.com ratings.
Betcash links a TVG.com account to your bank checking account. Money can be both deposited and withdrawn with no fee.
Debit/Credit cards incur a $5 deposit fee, although some banks may charge more or even block transactions (depending on the state), so make sure to check first.
Similar to above, a TVG Prepaid card has a $5 deposit fee. It also lets you transfer money from your bank to the card, and then to a TVG.com US account. The TVG Prepaid card can also be used at a variety of ATMs to withdraw winnings.
Green Dot MoneyPaks are free to use to deposit money, although they cost $5.95 to purchase. Money deposited into a TVG.com US account this way can take up to one hour to process.
PayNearMe works by taking a code to a participating location (7-Eleven, Family Dollar and CVS) and paying the cashier. They’ll then process the payment into the relevant TVG.com account. The store may charge a $3.99 transaction fee for this service.
PayPal has a $5 fee for all deposits but is one of the quicker methods. New Jersey residents cannot use PayPal with TVG.com US.
Applicable fees for gift cards vary by product, and some may not work with TVG.com. We recommend the Vanilla Mastercard Gift Card as this does work, but still has a $5 fee attached.
Wire transfers need to be set up in person at a bank, and incur a $15 fee for amounts below $1000. Deposit and withdrawal require different forms, and banks may charge additional fees.
Daily and Monthly Deposit limits can be set by navigating to your account panel and clicking Deposit. TVG.com US limits cannot be exceeded unless a player contacts them directly. The maximum withdrawal amount is $10,000, and processing times vary by method; generally speaking, a player will receive their money between 1 and 3 days. Head to our Keeneland Select Review for alternative payment methods offered.
Customer Service - Is TVG.com Reliable?
Is TVG.com reliable when it comes to supporting its customers? Our TVG.com reviews found that the support center is decidedly above average. The help section is divided into eight popular topics, ranging from Account Management to Technical Assistance.
There is also a very reliable search function at the top of the main FAQ page. The only negative is that methods to contact TVG.com US are buried within the Account Management section.
TVG.com can be contacted all the usual ways: by phone, email, and live messaging. The phone is toll-free, and both this and the messaging service are in operation between 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. PT and 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. ET. It’s a very reasonable time span, and this availability helped our TVG.com ratings in this area.
A third party handles refunds and exchanges, so processing times are entirely up to them. This is a bit of a hassle, but TVG.com appears to realize this as they still make it clear their support team is willing to help. Wager cancellations are almost immediate, but the limits for these vary by state, so make sure to check TVG.com US for specific details.
License & Security - Is TVG.com Secure?
TVG.com reviews and complies with all relevant state and federal regulations, such as player identity verification. For instance, they implement various methods to verify player identity (depending on the request) that can include providing specific personal information.
Licensing on TVG.com US varies by state, as different jurisdictions have unique terms and conditions (for example, residents in Virginia cannot cancel bets over $250). We highly recommend checking the site for information pertinent to your state.
Responsible horse bettling is taken seriously by TVG.com, and this extends to age verification. New players have to provide their social security number and relevant payment information. TVG.com also reserves the right to check any account to verify information. For another licensed bookmaker check out our bet365 sign-up offers US review.
Rewards & Loyalty Program at TVG.com US
TVG.com offers a very straightforward Wager Reward program. For every dollar a player wagers, they receive one Reward Point. For every 2,500 Reward Points a player earns, they receive a $5 wagering credit. Bear in mind: this is something that has to be opted in to, so make sure to check the appropriate box under Promotions.
TVG’s wager reward program is similar to those of many other operators. They incorporate many of the same bonuses and additional offers. TVG.com US does have a few promos that we haven’t seen before (and would like to see more of!).
Chief among these is the Fee-Free Deposits promotion, which refunds the $5 processing fee for your first PayPal, debit/credit card, or TVG PrePaid deposit of $100 or more.
Another we like is the Guaranteed Odds promo: make a qualifying wager, and you receive an initial payout at the track’s final odds. Players then receive wagering credit for the difference between the guaranteed odds and the track payout.
TVG.com doesn’t offer any kind of VIP program, which our TVG.com reviews find disappointing. It’s the norm for many other advanced wagering services. This negatively impacted our TVG.com ratings. TVG does, however, reward bettors for betting on horses and that makes them worthwhile.
TVG Sports Betting
TVG.com US may not offer quite as many tracks as some competitors, but with 150 available the difference isn’t a big deal for us. Especially when those race tracks are spread across North America, the UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, Dubai, and Asia.
TVG.com also allows betting for major tournaments such as the Kentucky Derby, Belmont Stakes, and Breeders Cup. In short, we don’t see how players could feel limited as the choice is still impressive.
Clicking on a race brings up all the relevant information, with M/L odds listed first. Best of all, TVG.com US has a convenient guide to the different odds, so even a wagering novice can understand the difference between Morning Line and Exacta.
Race details can also be sorted by Pace, Speed & Class, and Jockey/Trainer Stats. Probables and Pools are also listed beside and beneath race charts so that players can see how the odds affect winnings.
TVG.com ratings for horse racing betting coverage are off the charts. However, TVG.com ratings do take a dive elsewhere. No general sports betting markets are offered. Our TVG.com reviews were unable to find markets for baseball, basketball, tennis, or any other sport that isn’t horse racing.
TVG.com reviews found extremely competitive odds for horse racing aficionados. All tracks covered featured odds that match or undercut those of the largest betting exchanges in the US. However, as mentioned above, no odds are offered for any sporting events beyond horse racing. This costs TVG.com ratings a few points.
As an added incentive to help punters make sensible wagers, TVG.com US has a Free Past Performances Program. Simply sign up for an account and purchase a track card (for example, the Stats Race Lens Day Pass).
Live Betting & Streaming
For a company that started as a television channel, it would be quite something if TVG.com didn’t offer live-streaming. Luckily for us, they do! The Watch TVG option is in the top right of every page and clicking it opens up a few opportunities. First and foremost, there’s the ability to watch live (in High Definition), as well as on TVG2 (the sister channel).
Any top picks for the currently streaming race are available below the video provided by in-house experts, including Britney Eurton and Simon Bray. This part of the site also gives players access to videos of replays, for any punters who want to dig deep into horse race analysis.
In-play betting options at TVG.com are abundant, and follow the same basic structure as pre-match wagers. There’s impressive depth of markets as well, though again, it only applies to horse racing. No sports streaming or sports in-play betting markets are available at TVG.com. This too takes its toll on our TVG.com ratings.
As for wager limits, these vary from track to track, as opposed to being set by TVG.com. We highly recommend players check the site for full details pertaining to the tracks in which they’re interested. Interested in trying out another, reputable sportsbook? Check our Smarkets Review.
Did we mention how newbie-friendly TVG.com US is? As well as the aforementioned betting guide, there’s also a glossary of horse racing terms, an explanation of wagering types (including what Carryover means), how to bet on the famous Triple Crown races effectively, and what handicapping horse speed means in different countries.
For example, it’s less critical in the UK than in the US. All in all, TVG.com helps make horse wagering as enjoyable as it can possibly be. However, fans of more general sports betting, seeking markets like football, soccer, or basketball, are straight out of luck.
No betting markets beyond horse racing are offered, and that doesn’t seem likely to change in the future, either. TVG.com has been since its inception a specialized horse wagering operator. In fact, its licensing across multiple US states only allows for horse betting action.
Therefore, general sportsbook betting is unlikely to come any time soon. Players looking for general sports betting action should check out other operators, such as JetBull.
Casino gambling is one of the most important parts of the gambling industry in general. Casinos house the finest and most enticing games in the world, offering players thousands of ways to gamble. They also provide a unique environment free from worries, that allows players to relax and take their minds off the world at large.
Online casinos bring this experience to the comfort of your own home. That is probably why they’ve become one of the most popular gambling outlets on the planet. In recent decades, the growth of online casinos far outpaces that of its land-based cousins.
That’s why countless traditional sportsbooks and even poker rooms are venturing into the casino business. Once a casino is set up, it’s an endless stream of revenue from casino gamblers. Still, many online gambling operators choose a different path.
That seems to be the case for TVG.com. Our TVG.com reviews were unable to locate any semblance of a Casino section. As far as we can tell, TVG.com offers absolutely no casino games to players. It seems to instead have chosen to specialize in horse wagering, to the detriment of all other kinds of gambling.
Online casinos are, of course, purely digital enterprises. This means that they don’t stand out based on their princely estates, lavish locations or privileged locations, like traditional casinos. Instead, online casinos are built on software.
Within the world of casino gambling software, there’s a range of reputable, legitimate software providers. Their names are known and loved by players all over the world, including the likes of NetEnt, IGT, WMS, among many others.
Their presence always puts players’ minds at ease, knowing they’re gambling with software from developers they trust. However, given that TVG.com has no casino games to speak of, our TVG.com reviews found no software developers to examine. This gravely affected our TVG.com ratings.
Online casinos live and die by their game portfolios. Ultimately, from a gambler’s perspective, it’s all that casinos really have to offer. It all comes down to the games. Most casinos have a range of hundreds to thousands of different games.
They’re often categorized as online slots, casino table games, and casino card games. Online slot machines are incredibly diverse, with most casinos featuring several hundred, from top developers. They can feature all kinds of themes, mechanics, and juicy jackpot prizes.
Table games include the likes of roulette and craps, usually in many variations. Card games include blackjack, baccarat, pai gow, punto banco, and many more. That said, since TVG.com doesn’t feature a single casino game, you won’t find any slots or games here.
Live Casinos take things a step further than regular online casinos. Instead of simulated games, live casinos provide a live video feed of a real dealer operating every game. It’s as close as customers can get to an actual casino without ever leaving their home.
Nevertheless, as TVG.com does not feature any kind of Casino section, no Live Casino games are available here either. This continues to affect our TVG.com ratings.
Every reputable online casino implements betting limits. It’s a way to ensure no player places a bet with a payout the casino can’t afford to make. Most games have bet limits that range from pennies per spin or hand to dozens of dollars.
Since TVG.com has no casino games, though, there are no relevant limits for our TVG.com reviews to look at here.
At the end of the day, nobody can be good at everything. That applies to online gambling operators, too. Many spread themselves too thin and fail on every front. TVG.com instead has chosen to specialize on one thing: horse racing.
Still, this level of specialization doesn’t mean it can’t have any kind of casino gambling. Many specialized horse racing operators offer Virtual Horse Racing games, and horse-themed online slots. The total lack of these elements does no favors for our TVG.com ratings.
We’d love to see an operator as respectable as TVG.com opening up an online casino in the future. Should that happen, we’ll happily update our TVG.com reviews. Until then, though, it remains a glaring oversight. Players looking for casino gambling would be far better served by Mr. Green or 32Red.
Poker is one of the most popular card games on Earth. Online poker is a huge industry, with millions of regular players using online poker rooms every day. Many online gambling operators now offer poker services to their customers.
Next up in our TVG.com reviews, we’ll talk about its Poker services. Much like Casino, Poker is largely absent from this operator. While many other sportsbooks have incorporated poker room services, TVG.com has run in the opposite direction, not even offering sports beyond their specialty.
Online poker is played using software, and the quality of the poker available depends largely on the software. Great software has a broad player base, no downtime, and a light download.
TVG.com has no poker software, though. Players looking to face off over some hands of poker will have to look elsewhere.
Game Types & Rake
Most poker rooms feature at least a few different types of poker, such as Texas Hold’em, and Omaha Hi/Lo. Rake is normally a small percentage of every pot, kept by the house. Many casinos pay back some of the rake to VIP players as well. As TVG.com has no poker games, though, no rake exists.
Online poker tournaments are among the best ways for up-and-coming poker players to test their mettle against the best. However, our TVG.com reviews found no poker games or tournaments to speak of whatsoever.
Poker is a betting game, and limits are a part of the game. Limit structures commonly available include Fixed Limits, No Limit, and Pot Limit. The pace of the game is greatly influenced by these limits. Since TVG.com has no poker games, though, no limit structure exists.
There’s a ton of fun to be had at TVG.com. However, if your idea of fun means joining an online cash game, playing a tournament, or anything related to poker at all, you’re out of luck at TVG.com.
Our TVG.com reviews found absolutely no kinds of poker available here. Players with their hearts set on a sportsbook that also offers poker action should check out other operators, such as 888Sport.

Overall Conclusion to our TVG.com reviews
If you’re still reading TVG.com reviews and wondering if it really is worth your time, the simple answer is “Absolutely.” TVG.com ratings are high in certain strong areas, such as horse wagering, transparency, clarity, and interface design.
If you’re a veteran punter, there’s even additional race information listed such as terrain, horse age range, if it’s thoroughbred or harness, and amount of furlongs. This all adds up to help you make as educated a wager as possible.
Players from certain states are also not allowed, and the ones that are, are typically subject to wildly varying wager limits. But, as a whole, TVG.com is on an equal footing with competitors like Watch and Wager and Keeneland Select.
Our TVG.com ratings for horse racing bettors
We would estimate TVG.com ratings for horse betting as very high. The site is an easy recommendation for all horse racing punters, whether novice or expert. However, anyone who is looking for betting beyond horse racing will be disappointed by TVG.com.
With no sports betting markets other than racing, no casino, and no poker services, variety is scarce. If betting on horses until the cows come home isn’t your idea of a good time, you should skip TVG.com. If you’re looking for another option, check out our Matchbook Review.
